Baked Beans


Other things my daughter loves is baked beans (that girl has got a serious sweet tooth). We typically get them from a can because my attempts at making them have not resulted in anything that met her approval, but I think I’ve finally managed to find the magic.

Baked Beans


  • 1 lb. great northern beans
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 T salt (more to taste)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 T Hungarian paprika
  • 2/3 c brown sugar
  • 2 T molasses
  • dash of black pepper
  • 1 can tomato paste


  1. rinse, sort, and soak beans overnight
  2. either in a slow cooker or on the stove, add enough water to the beans to cover by 2″, add salt and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until soft. Add all the other ingredients and cook 1 hour more.
