Food History

I mentioned in my last post I’ve recently become interested in food history. Food Timeline is a very interesting site. You can find information and recipes from the ancient Romans to the pioneers on the Oregon Trail. 

Diana Kennedy and her books on Mexico are amazing. There’s the Food Museum and The History Kitchen; Food History Jottings has some amazing photos. Culinary History takes a more academic approach. All sorts of books and youtube videos cover history and culinary aspects of ethnobotany (not necessarily historical, but ethnobotany usually includes a component of traditional/historical food traditions). 

The possibilities are endless. This is going to be fun…
