I realized I hadn’t posted photos of our cider making adventure from two weeks ago. My family, cousins, aunts, uncles, parents, and a few friends got together at the family farm to press apples from the orchard. In the end we ended up with about six carboys of juice, the pulp went to some very happy cows hanging out in the pasture. The press is about 100 years old, but has had some much needed updates in the past couple of years as you can see by the new wood (I’m sure it had other updates in the past century, but it was a little neglected for a number of years). A lot of the juice was drunk just as juice, there was some hard cider from last year’s pressing and some was taken to be made into a new batch of hard cider.
